Saint Erastus the Apostle

Today we remember Saint Erastus. He was one of the Seventy, the seventy special helpers that Jesus chose and sent out, two by two, to teach people about Him. So Erastus was an apostle, one of Jesus' helpers sent out to share the good news.

Erastus traveled with Saint Paul the apostle on many long journeys. Together they walked from city to city, telling everyone the happy news about Jesus. Later, Erastus became a bishop, a church leader who lovingly watches over many churches.

God did mighty things through Erastus. One day there was sea-water that was too salty to drink. Erastus prayed, and God turned the salty sea-water into fresh, clean water, so the thirsty people could drink it! What a happy surprise that was. Erastus served God faithfully his whole life long.

Saint Acacius, Bishop of Jerusalem

We also remember Saint Acacius. He cared for God's people as a bishop in the holy city of Jerusalem. He was a pure and good man who loved God with all his heart.

Sometimes hard times and trouble came to Acacius, but he never stopped trusting God. He stayed faithful, no matter what. Through his hands God did many signs and wonders to help people who needed it.

When Acacius grew old, he went home to God in peace, happy to be with the Lord he had loved for so long.

Even when hard times came, Acacius stayed faithful, because he trusted God with all his heart.
