Hello, and welcome! Teklye.org is a free website that teaches the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo faith to children and young people. This page explains, in simple words, what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep you safe. We wrote it so that kids, teens, and parents can all understand it.
A note for parents and guardians
Because our website is made for children, we care deeply about safety and privacy. If your child is younger than 13, we ask that you help them create their account and give your permission first. You can ask us at any time to see, change, or delete your child’s information.
The short version
- We only ask for the information we really need.
- We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We do not show ads.
- We work hard to keep your information safe.
What we collect
When you make a free account, we may ask for:
- Your first name or a nickname
- An email address (for younger children, this can be a parent’s email)
- A password, to keep your account safe
As you learn, we also save which lessons you have finished and how you did on quizzes, so you can pick up where you left off.
When anyone visits the site, our website automatically collects a little technical information, such as the type of device or browser you use and the general area (like the country) you are visiting from. This helps the website work properly and stay safe.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- Create and take care of your account
- Save your learning progress
- Keep the website safe and working well
- Make our lessons better over time
That is all. We do not use your information to sell you things.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
- We do not show advertisements.
- We do not share your information with other people or companies, except with trusted helpers who keep the website running (for example, the company that stores our website) and who must also protect it, or when the law requires us to.
Cookies (the website kind!)
A “cookie” is a tiny file that a website saves on your device. Cookies help the site remember that you are signed in and help it work smoothly. You can turn cookies off in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work as well.
Keeping you safe
- We use security tools to protect your information.
- Please choose a strong password and keep it secret.
- Never share your password, even with friends.
- If anything on the site ever makes you feel worried or unsafe, please tell a parent, guardian, or teacher right away.
For parents and guardians: your rights
At any time, you can ask us to:
- Show you the information we have about your child
- Correct it
- Delete it, or close the account
Just contact us using the details below, and we will help.

Sometimes we may link to other websites, such as a video on YouTube. Those websites have their own privacy rules, which are different from ours. We do not control them, so please check their rules too.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. If we make a big change, we will try to let members know.
